HD/Cable is pixelating?
Question:
What could be the issue here? I asked the cable guy if the signal might not be strong enough. Maybe a booster was in order. He didn't think that was an issue. However, we do have two splitters, roadrunner, and our cable that we bought to extend the cable across the basement is much longer than it needs to be.
Answer:
There can be many issues with your service. It depend on how many tvs you have in the home. You said that you bought a cable to extend across the basement. What typ of cable did you buy. If it is RG59 it needs to be replaced with RG6 this will be the first thing to look at. Next I would check your splitters to make sure they are from 5-1000 MHz if not have the cable guy replace them because there splitters are more durable than walmarts or radio shacks splitters...The next thing you may need to look at is the outlets are they RG6 or RG59 if RG59 you need to replace them..If you have done or check all these the cable company has a problem at there end at there TAP or your DROP needs to be replaced to the home..If all is good at the TAP and your DROP then the cable company has two more options to install an AMP or run an extra DROP to your home..Digital cable along with your HD is very picky in signal quality. If the Freq of the digital signals are being compressed at a high rate then you will have pixeling on your TV. There are other factors that can play in this as well such as loose fittings, bad fittings (use compression fittings), dielitric wrapped around the center conductor of the coaxial cable and or a crushed coaxial cable..Be involved with the cable guy when he comes out..Make sure he checks you signal levels behind your TV and at the ground block..If he uses this method you will be in good hands..If not you may want to bring these issues up to him..I hope this helps
