HD cable box connected to a projector?
Question:
Answer:
Garbage in = garbage out. The connection is not going to help the picture quality of the non-hd channels.
your analog channels will look bad. most are still broadcast in 480 i
The quality will be better than with composite video. It is based on the same premise that S-video is better than composite. S video uses 2 signals while composite uses only 1. In Component, you are separating the colors and brightness signals instead of modulating them all together.
The RESOLUTION will not be better, but the QUALITY of the video signal will be.
Also many HD cable boxes can be set to output 480p on the analog channels.
yes use component video cables. Composite cables combine the picture signal into one combined signal. A color picture is made up of the black and white picture or greyscale shades (called "luminance") and the color information (called "chroma"). A TV must separate out the signals and picture quality is lost when this happens.
In analog TV an "s-video" cable separates the chroma and luminance and is therefore a better picture quality than composite. A component video cable further separates the picture and the result is rich color and a clearer picture.
If you have high definition, you may want to use a digital cable like HDMI or DVI because there is no degradation of quality when the digital signal is transferred, if it's available on your projector. That too will give you better quality than component cable.
Still, the component cable will allow for hdtv content to be shown nicely. In case you aren't aware, s-video and composite cables WILL NOT transfer HDTV signals nor can it send a progressive scan signal.
