Record a Dish TV show to VHS or DVD?

Question:
I don't know how to record live Dish Network TV to a VHS/DVD.I don't have a DVR but, I know someone who did it without one.
Please Help!!

Answer:
If you are using the cable connection from the Dish receiver to your TV, "To TV", you have to insert a splitter and an extra section of cable into the VCR/DVD "From Antenna" cable connection. You will be able to record only what you are watching. If you change the channel, you will change the recording.
I found some info for you in a forum on that very subject :

You mention a VHS/DVD. Is this a VCR and DVD combination unit? If it is you can connect the output signals from your satellite receiver to the input of your unit and record to a VHS tape. You will need the appropriate cables to interconnect.
If you get tivo, you can record all your favorite TV shows without having to deal with VHS or DVD. You can even set up the schedule and tivo would record your programs even if you are not at home.
