What settings would you recommend for my Sharp 42 inch LCD TV (42d62u)?
Question:
Answer:
Welcome to the world of HDTV. SD channels suck on most HDTVs regardless of settings. As long as your HD channels look okay, there's nothing you can do to improve SD stations. Sony and Pioneer manage some improvement by some tweaking with their superior video processing circuitry, but most other brands just leave the SD the way it comes... lousy. You could try turning the sharpness down, but that just blends the garbage together and makes the picture look out of focus. plus, it will take away from your HD clarity. You've just graduated from the school of hard knocks. In February of 2009, it will all be a moot point as there will be nothing but digital broadcasts available.
