If you buy a LCD/HD TV with a ATSC tuner built in, is it still necessary to buy an antenna?

Question:
Is the ATSC tuner an antenna in itself? When buying an LCD TV with the ATSC installed, will I need to buy an antenna? That's my question. I'm considering buying an LCD TV. My thing is, I don't want to have to pay a monthy fee to some cable company, just to see local channels.
I've read about LCD/HD TV's, and in a sense, am confused. I think I may hold off until Sept 2008 to buy an LCD TV with a ATSC tuner built in, since analog TV will be turned off by Feb 2009.

Answer:
yes as the tuner decodes the data the antenna receives. get a wideband UHF/VHF antenna which will cover you for all channels including HD
You have to use an antenna to get signal. Recommend using a HDTV tuned antenna to get best results.
yes you still need an antenna. an atsc tuner is still a form of signal reciever, only it recieves signals at a higher frequency than regular tv.
You will need some kind of antenna depending on where you are with respect to the TV transmitters. You may be able to get by with an indoor antenna in a strong signal area. This is considered the best: http://www.zenith.com/sub_prod/product_d...
