My computer keeps messing up!?


Question:
Im trying to play STAR WARS:KNIGHTS OF THE OLD REPUBLIC and after i start a new game. it asks me to make my character. after i do so. it starts to load, then the game minimizes it self and it wont stop, i tryed everything. I tryed:
re-installing
downloading patches
restarting computer
make it un-minimize
and eccetra.

if it helps my specs. are:

intel pentium 4 processor supporting hyper threading technology.

processor speed 3 GHz
800 MHz FSB, 1 MB L2 cache

250 gb SATA HD
7200 RPM with 8 MB cache

512 MB DDR
Dual channel memmory

double layer 16x multi-format DVD+/RW Drive

3 firewire .tm.,7 usb ports

intel graphics media accelerator 900

intel pro 10/100 mbps LAN

digital memory reader

and if any of the top items doesnt list my graphics card then it must be: intel 82915G/GV//910GL

does any1 have any advanced ideas?

Answer:
Looks like you don't have enough memory. 512MB is OK for for most stuff, like surfing the net, or using Word, but for memory intensive stuff like games you should have at least 1GB. You might try to see if you are running any tasks that you don't need while playing the game and shut those down.

You should also look for spyware which may have snuck on your machine. You can get Ad-Aware from lavasoft.com for free.

I assume you have some sort of virus protection program running to look for bad stuff also. If not, you can get a free checkup from Trend Micro and I think MacAffe will give you a free scan. Check their web pages.
