My HDMI cable has good quality for HD stations, but HORRIBLE for regular channels. Why?

Question:
I am using a HD digital cable converter box and LCD tv.

Answer:
It has nothing to to with the cable, it has to do with the signal that it is sending. A regular signal will look worse then an HD one, no matter what cable you use.
LCD was not made for non-digital, non-HD signals. A CRT will display those signals much better than the HD TV. It has nothing to do with your cables, one of the things we have to deal with until everyone broadcasts in HD or atleast digital.
It has to do with how much technology went into the circuitry that is converting the old analog signal into the digital signal. Many time a cable box cannot compare to the one inside your TV, so inputting the older shows through component is the better option. Your TV is probably newer than the cable box or the satelite box.
