Question about cable/satellite television?
Question:
In a nutshell, I'd like a basic cable package (like a 'basic 100' plan with local channels) but I'm not sure what, in the long run would be the best way to go. Is it best to stick with one of the big plans, like AT&T's dish, or go with one of the unheard of companies advertized in the mail (such as one I just got for dishASAP.com). Is there one option better than another?
I'd like to hear recommendations or ideas from your experience.
Thanks.
Answer:
Those "unheard of companies" are not flying their own satellite up there (which is a big-buck kind of activity). They are just wholesalers who get you a deal on one of the regular suppliers of satellite access. If you have a problem with the dish failing or being hit by something and getting wrecked do those little companies have the resources to make it right again? Check that out and also see if there have been any BBB complaints against them or problems getting what they promised.
I liked Directv, but i started before DVR's came out, now if i upgrade to DVR they want me to stay for 2 more years and have a penalty fee of 25 every month I'm short of 2 years. DishTv has a deal if you don't ask for your 50 dollar start up fee, I wont be obligated for 2 years for signing up for DVR. I was told by Directv deals can be different around the country.
