DVR with hard drive?
Question:
can you watch one recorder show on the hard drive, while you record another?
can you record two shows in to diferent channels at the same time, onto the HD?
I live in Mexico, so I dont have TIVO, and I dont need a cable box for my cable tv, I can tune each channel with the TV
Answer:
I have 5 DirecTV Tivo that has been upgraded so they use 200Gb and 250Gb hard drives which allow for 178 Hours and 220 Hours of recording time. I also have them networked so I can view the shows on any of the Tivo's over the internet. It allows me to schedule shows to be recorded over the internet. Transfer the shows/movies from the DirecTV Tivo over my home wired/wireless network onto my PC so I can burn the shows onto a DVD.
Now back to yuor other questions, if you do not need a cable box but you receive the shows/movies and want to record them onto a hard drive then you can set up your own DVR very easily. Specially if you have an old PC that yo do not use. I am putting a link to a site that talks about different software abd types of Homebrewand Do It Yourself DVR setups. http://www.dvrplayground.com/category/9/...
If this is not what you have in mind let me know and I could give you more ideas. Hope this helps..
It depends on what kind of DVR you have. If you have a Dual-Tuner DVR, then you can watch one show while record another. If you only have a single tuner built into your DVR then you can only record one show.
A Dual-Tuner DVR can allow you to record up to two shows at once while watching something that you have previously recorded.
Usually the DVR can record anywhere from 40-60 hours of programming.
all dvr have hard drive if you want to know how many hours is capable or record go to setting using the menu screen then go to system information it will display the recording capacity,in HD hours an standard hours and Directv dvr can record two show at the same time and watch a different show that was previously recorded all at the same time ..
