Has anyone else experienced this sort of issue while watching TV in HD?

Question:
I just noticed this last night while watching Grey's Anatomy on the abc HD channel. The background music from the show was so loud I couldn't hear what the characters were saying. I tried to asjust the sound on the tv itself, but it didn't help. So I switched to the regular channel instead and the sound was fine. I watched the Lost special that was on after Grey's and found the same problem so watched that in stardard def too. I don't know if it's the show, the channel or my tv. Has anyone else had this problem?
If you are not using a 5.1 surround system I can understand this happening. You may want to consider this. It will allow you to change the levels of the center speaker and L&R to suit your tastes.
It sounds like a downmix issue. How are you running the sound? If it's through a receiver, make sure that it's set to receive 5.1 audio and not running it on 2.0. Same thing with your cable box and/or satellite box. Make sure that you are getting all 5 channels out.

If you only have stereo speakers and not 5.1, make sure that your receiver and box are set to stereo output and not 5.1.

It's happened to me before and this turned out to be the problem. Essentially, you're receiving the background music on the left and right speaker and dialogue on the center channel.
if your tv has AVL or Automatic Volume Leveller then turn it ON. It will keep same volume level on all the channels

your tv seems ok. sound difference is due to different modulation setting from different broadcasters
Sometimes networks will have errors in their broadcast. Ocassionaly you will get no or very quiet dialogue from shows. I have seen it happen on MNF and CSI Miami. As networks become more proficient at HD broadcasting, these kinds of problems are becoming more rare. It could also be an issue with your electronic. Are you using a surround sound receiver, or just your tv speakers?
It happened to me too on the same show i believe 2 weeks ago. My tv is set up right and i never had that problem before or after. Only reasonable explanation is that it's a broadcasting error.
I find I have to adjust the sound up when on Hi-Def, for whatever reason.
It must just be the nature of the beast.
