Direct tv hd?
Question:
Answer:
I have an HD receiver from DTV.
I have had my HD receiver for just over a year and recently added a HD DVR. I have 1 HDTV in my house *that has the HD DVR* and 1 non HD tv that has the standard HD receiver on it. Even on the non HD tv the picture quality is a lot better with the HD channels. The non hd channels are not as good on the HDTV (that is because we stretched the picture to fit the screen and it distorts the picture a bit - takes awhile to get used to the stretched picture - but still worth it).
There is a button on the top left of the remote that allows you to change the format of the picture you are watching. If you have a HDTV I recommend making sure it is set at 1080i (the installer SHOULD set the format for you to the best quality AND explain it to you - if you are having DirecTECH install the system for you - BEWARE - they are only paid 20.00 per receiver to install them so they get in and out as quickly as they can). If you have a non HDTV your hd pics will still be very very good but again - you will have to change the format so the picture fits the screen to eliminate the lines on the top/bottom or sides of the picture so you get a full screen. Again - this is something that the installer should take the time to explain to you. Make sure you understand the receiver and what it can and can't do before he leaves. Also, read the manual. It can be confusing but will explain quite a bit.
Good luck and enjoy! I love my DirecTV!
