How do I get rid of the Spanish sub titles on my dish TV?
Question:
Answer:
The fact that you have to realize is that most times, the subtitles have nothing to do with your satellite receiver but everything to do with the subtitle settings on your TV. In certain cases, the more advanced DISH Network receivers have a preset that sometimes CAN activate and cause you to see subtitles, this is very rare. Try this, if you have DISH Network this will work, if you have DirecTV your sh** out of luck.
-Look on your Dish remote control, on the top of your remote control on the left hand side you'll see the "Menu" button, this is the little grey button with 3 parallel lines on it, press it. When the main menu appears press the numbers 6 and THEN 3. This will take you to the diagnostic screen. After you get to the diagnostic screen, press "Info"(Which is about an inch below the big blue select buttong) then press "Browse"(which is the right arrow button just to the right of your big blue select button) and then press "Theme" which is just to the left of the big blue select button". You have to do it semi-fast like, "Info-Browse-Theme". After than you'll see a sh*-load of numbers on your screen and it will say "Memory Dump". When you get to the "Memory Dump" screen press the TV/Video button which is located on the top of the remote control all the way on the left side and is directly under the "SAT" button. If you have an 811 HD receiver the button will be labled "Input". After press the TV/Video button you'll read a message that says "Non-Volatile Memory has been Corrupted". When you see this screen, pull the plug from the electricity and plug it right back in. You've just performed a memory dump. If the subtitles are still there after the receiver boots up, it means that it has nothing to do with your DISH receiver and that you have to turn off the subtitles on your TV itself. This memory dump sequence is a pretty good cure-all for most software problems on ANY DishNetwork receiver. Hot Damn.
