How hard is it to add television channels?? Comcast Cable?

Question:
What does Comcast have to do to add channels to my digital cable?
When I go onto the Comcast website and look at my channel lineup for my area my High Def. channels do not compare to the HD channel lineup of a city that is about a 5-10 minute drive away.
What does Comcast have to do in order for me to receive these other High Def. channels. I do not understand why I cannot get these extra channels.
BTW- The city I live in is East Lansing, and the other city is Lansing with the good lineup.

Answer:
It's probably a bandwidth issue. I have the same problem; I get fewer channels than people in the next town. They get On Demand; I don't.

The reason is that my city was a "pioneer" of cable TV, meaning the cable itself and its distribution system are old and cruddy and running at capacity. Cities which installed cable later ended up with better systems and more bandwidth. I have no particular knowledge of your city's cable history, but this could be the reason.

In the worst case, the cable company has to rip out and replace all the cable and distribution boxes. All you can do is phone Comcast and tell them you're unhappy with your limited channel line-up and ask them when they can expand it.
