What should I do? Go back to a public school or stay homeschooled? Why?

Question:
I was a public high school student but I decided it would be faster to graduate through homeschooling, so that's what I'm doing now. The online homeschooling program is not responding to my needs and questions at all. I would really love to be able to walk with my class for graduation, wear a cap and gown, appear in the yearbook, and just be a part of a public school. What would you guys do if you were me? (By the way, I have one school year left!) Thanks for your answers!

Answer:
I don't know what curriculum you are using but why not try a different one? My kids hated being on the computer for their classes so we did more hands on type work and they like it a lot better.
As for graduation and everything, aren't you part of any type of home school group? That is what most home schoolers do. We have a huge ceremony this time of the year for all the Home school graduates in this area.
Another thing to check into is dual enrollment at a local college. My daughter will be doing that in her junior and senior years of high school and it allows her to graduate high school with an AA degree.
Good Luck whatever you decide.
Good for you! Only 1 school year left congrats! Well it depends if the people you are graduationg with are really THAT important. If you're having issues with the other students or are having other problems that can't be solved OTHER THEN LEAVING SCHOOL, then maybe you can leave. But otherwise, come on, you only have one year left. Why not enjoy whats left of it? Usually senior year is the easiest and you have all the power over your underclassmen. Besides whats the rush? Just hold on for another year. If you don't you may regret it.
OK um I'm home schooled

and I'm actually out of school now i noticed i had way more time to do things and i had a better attitude= )

hope this helped

oh here is a great homeschool site
I don't like publics school do the fact that I don't want to go one day and not come home the next. It's sad that some kids are scared to go to school now a days. I am not sure what's your online home schooling but, mine is PCDI. They do have there probelms but, you need to call them and be very nice but, say look your messing with my school work and I need to get it corrected or am going to another school. My mom did that and we have not had any probelms since. I am suppose to finish sometime next year so yeah your right it is faster. But you do what you want. It might look better if your home schooled then gone to a public school when you go to your college. Good luck!
You would probably graduate faster through homeschooling by NOT going with an online program.

As for graduating with your class... You'll have to see if that's how it'll actually work. More than one person has posted in here about how they've done a year or more of school away from public school and the high school wouldn't recognize the work or credits already obtained. You'd have to find out if the high school would consider you a senior next year or something lower.

Just the fact that you consider it the whole cap and gown thing and being with your class important says to me that if you can't at least try to get back into public school, it'll probably be something you regret.

ADDED: What would *I* do? I didn't consider the whole graduation thing that important, so I'd probably find another program or just do plain old homeschooling and have my parents issue a diploma once I was done.
I say GO BACK. I am homeschooled and i love it and think it is a great idea. but in your case you should go back. what i belive is that everyone should get the expirience of homeschooling but you should go back for graduatin. the 2 most important yoers of your education are kindergarden and graduation year so undoughtubly go back if your program doesnt respond! (by the way it works better to get the workbooks!)
I would talk to my parents and ask them for advice.
Try another curriculum, ditch the computer.

Check out your local hs support group - many of them have graduation cermonies just like High school so you can still wear the cap & gown, etc. Some have yearbooks as well.
You will graduate faster through homeschooling but if it is important to you to walk with your class for graduation and be in the yearbook, then you should go back. You might regret it later if you don't. Just think about it, talk to your parents, and make sure you know what YOU really want.
If I could do it all again, I would take college classes at a local community college my senior year. I took one class each semester my senior year and only had to pay for books. Or...if you're a good test-taker, sign up to take CLEP tests your senior year. Study the necessary books, take tests, and get college credits. Anyway, I would definately opt for the homeschool thing just because it is so much faster.

As for the graduation, yearbook, and such...you'll always have college graduation and yearbook to look forward to...so all is not lost. Personally, my yearbook is in a box somewhere, and I've only been graduated for a few years. I would think it'd be better to get a jump start in college so you can get on with real life.
