University of New Hampshire with Belford Diploma?

Question:
So I went to public school all my life up until grade 9+, in which I was pulled out for homeschooling. After years of a studying with a curriculum, I got a Belford Diploma online. My father took it to my old public high school principal to check if it was legit and he let us know that it was. So I come online to randomly search for this school that I "graduated" from because I'm getting ready to apply to college. And I see all these things about how it's fake and it's a degree mill and if you take it into a college, they'll laugh in your face.

But I was wondering, since University of New Hampshire has such a broad section where they speak about how welcome they are to homeschoolers (http://admissions.unh.edu/admissions/hom... if they check back to my public school grades (straight A's) and I take my SAT's and get a good score, do you think they would let me in even with this diploma?

Answer:
NO. Belford is an unaccredited diploma mill, sorry. You should be able to get in on your high school diploma and SAT, just like any incoming freshmen, but "degrees" from "universities" such as Belford, Almeda, Kennedy Western are academically meaningless. I would not mention them on any application for employment or education.
"Home schooling" has a very specific meaning in New Hampshire. If you want to home school your child, you have to use certain curricula and meet certain standards and requirements.

Belford, on the other hand, advertises on their site:
----------------
Diploma - GED & High School Diploma Programs
Without taking admission!
Without any hassle of attending classes!
Without studying long hours for tough exams!

Earn a recognized high school diploma from Belford High School within 7 days, for just $249.
----------------

It takes a LOT longer than 7 days to learn what you would learn in high school. Now, if you really were home schooled after that, why didn't you get your degree the official home schooled way?

And frankly, if you made it into UNH, and weren't prepared properly, it would be very difficult to get very far. If you're smart enough to get through UNH, then you should be smart enough to get your GED the proper way. Sorry about the $249, but all is not lost if you really are full home-schooled through high school.

Good luck!
