Should i keep up with the Aviation?

Question:
Im working on my Pvt pilot, im going to a 4yr state school and i am training at a local Regional Airport through delta connection academy. My problem is that i stopped flying in March because i ran out of money..i was on my last lesson before the final test. It is now the end of July and i still have not flown. I now begin to question myself if i even want it anymore. I like seeing my friends, having fun..etc..and with the aviation i cant seem to do that. Im always broke and i never seem to have time to see my friends when i was flying.

I like flying but at the same time i dont because it takes my social life away. Its now come down to whether or not i like flying more or having a semi decent life. I wasn't very sociable when i was in high school, not many friends, etc. And now with college i have all those things and its new for me so thats also affecting my decision.

Im just looking for some opinions from people..

thanks
I promise you that this will not be the last time that you'll question whether or not you are doing the right thing for yourself. About half way through my tour in Vietnam I also was questioning my sanity for choosing to become a helicopter pilot. But one thing will always be true in your life. Whatever is happening now will be happening differently tomorrow. And who will ever know what tomorrow will bring. All I ever wanted was one issue of tomorrows wall street journal. Think about this though the next time you're trying to decide whether to go out and party with your buddies or put some money away for that final lesson. When you are lying in your death bed several decades from now, which one will you look back and wish you had done?
If you can afford it, do it. My husband was a private pilot, bought a Super Cub on floats and absolutely loved it. He met other private pilots who have been friends for years. After awhile, however, we got tired of all the expense of ownership (wow!! is it expensive - even for a small airplane!), and sold the airplane and he let his license lapse. But, what great memories!
I would suggest to take your final couple lessons and get it over with. If you do chose to give it up thats ok. But if you decide to go ahead with it a year or more later you may have to pay more for refresher lessons.

I would also suggest to limit your time with your friends. I use to be the same way. Im 21 now. Went to college for a year now I am working my way to go back into college because I wanted to hang out with my friends that one year.

I really want to be a pilot also. Right now I am thinking the best way for me is military.

But just remeber are your friends going to be supporting you in 5 years? Probably not. You are the only one who is going to be supporting yourself. Finish school the best you can and get that degree in something you enjoy doing.
Lots of good answers, especially John B and Christian.

My feeling is this: I always wanted to fly; Dad was a pilot, my brother flew, etc. But life got in the way. After many years, I just decided to do it.
Finish your training and take your check ride. The feeling of accomplishment whether you continue to fly or not is one you can get nowhere else.
Like you, I have left many of my old friends behind. But.I gained a lot of new friends in aviation (now becoming old friends). We spend a lot of time together because we share a common interest and bond that the non-aviation community has a hard time understanding.
Don't sit back and years from now wonder, "if only I had."
Aforce,

I agree with the others who say at least finish your private ticket. If nothing else, you'll have some self-respect and pride in the accomplishment, not to mention bragging rights with the ladies.

If you're not sure about flying as a career, you need to figure that out for yourself. If you proceed, and you're not a trust-fund baby (sounds like you're not), you'll have to come up with a whole bunch of cash to finish your Commercial, Instrument, and Multi ratings.

Then you'll be minimally qualified for a crappy job either instructing or (if you're lucky) flying right-seat for peanuts for somebody. After a couple of years, you might be making peanuts AND popcorn. You will likely have to go to where the job is, or commute. Think 4 guys living in a low-rent apartment somewhere. Sharing a bathroom.

If you're not willing to make those kinds of sacrifices for up to 10 years, then go become a stockbroker. The AVERAGE bonus at Goldman-Sachs last year was $600,000 I read in the paper.

Good luck!
Try to get your Pilots license since you say your very close to your checkride, you will be very satisfied when you obtain your license. And your friends will love flying with you!
dude your friends will always be there... go to school get it over with.. party later..
I also have been working on my Pvt for an extended period. I too ran out of $, but keep my foot in the door. Do anything you can to stay involved, attending EAA fly in's or just hanging out at the airport. Even back seating. Sometimes, I go out & ride along on the fuel truck or the tug. I've found joy just being in the element, though it makes me yearn for more.
A hard question to answer. Look at it from this point of view. If you continue your flight training it could lead you to a career as a pilot with good pay and benefits. At this point you would have plenty of money to have fun with your friends.

I hope this helped you out some.
