My daugher is a junior in high school and wants to start working on an associates degree at community college?
Question:
yeah she can start at a community college by taking a couple of classes. its a good idea!
Wow - that's amazing!
I know in our high school, if you complete certain classes and get an A or B - you can receive college credit. Check with her guidance counselor.
i.e. Marketing, Criminal Justice, Business Managemet, (even Auto Technology for my son)etc.
Also, if she excels in certain subjects and has gone as far as she can, (i.e. Math, algegbra 1,2 geometry, etc) she can go move on toward college level classes now. Again check with her counselor, or your local junior college that your High School feeds into. Good luck!
Yes, it's possible to do. She needs to talk to a guidance counselor about "dual enrollment." It's ambitious, but if she's up to it, I see no reason why not!
Check with your local school but I know of kids that have done this. I'd say let her go for it if it's what she wants to go. Just make sure she also gets to enjoy being a teenager and do the things teenagers do.
My now 18y/o daughter started taking classes at her community college when she was a freshman. (at 15/16). It maybe possible, you'll need to check with the college, and her school. Mine went to a couple of college classes in the evenings during the school years, and a few day classes during the summers. She ended up graduating a year early with a 4.1GPA and started college with enough credits to be considered a junior.
Good luck. Mine was stressed at times, but would try to schedule classes in groups that didn't all have heavy work loads.
They are doing this with high school kids now.Go for it!
She sure can. As long as she can handle the workload I would say go for it. Just monitor how she is doing and do not let her get too overwhelmed! Tell her good luck! :) :)
i think no i know its a very good idea. becasue she is gettting ahead and getting extra credits and college credits she may not need to take some classes when she gets into college and it will looks good on her college application that she took this extra step and took up her free time to take more classes. colleges will be impressed. im also doing the same next year.
i did this i think its a good idea. it helped me get ahead and its really not that much work, provided that she doesnt take too many classes.
