I'm trying to write a Graduation speech...?
Question:
Answer:
Don't stress too much. I've been to zillions of graduations and most of the speeches are copycat of each other. They talk about how far they've come, what special memories they share, and how everything will be different in the future.
It's very difficult to write something new. If you're trying to be creative, why not write a Top Ten List of some sort. At least try to get a laugh so they won't zone out on you completely.
Either way, make it short. Don't rattle on forever. They'll remember more of a one minute speech than a 10 minute speech.
Write what you know.
Yes, get a tape recorder or use the recording feature on your cell phone. Sit in a quite place alone and pretend you are going to tell a good friend in a matter-of-fact, casual way what your high school experience was - the good and the bad. Just be yourself, that's the best sort of speech anyone can "write." Congratulations!
