Answer:
You should have a look at J2EE too.
I would recommend SAP netweaver and SOA experience.
It all depends on your personal preference.
It depends on what you are interested in. Try to find something that requires specialized knowledge that you are interested in. And then learn it. Just having coding skills isn't going to get you a lasting career.
SAP is a bit harder to get into, but will pay better than .NET development. Most companies are off-shoring SAP development now days however, so if your in the states keep that in mind.
.NET developers are pretty common really, but it is easy to get started with (provided you are willing to work cheap).
Smoothest career change is one where you already have the new job lined up. Do things on the side first for cheap, get some experience, see what you know and don't know and what you are interested in. If your good, then the little side project you do could get you noticed, and a job offer. If not, well at least you now have some real world experience (which is key for any IT job).
go with this order:
Learn .NET or Java by self if you can. the resources should be avaliable from Web. and then learn SAP related stuff which would be ABAP. start with Mini-SAP (you can self-learn this too). Check the below sites about how to get mini-SAP:
