Could CRM software assist this firm in managing accounts receivables?
Question: if possible could you please be a little specific

CRM software is not really an Accounts Receivable tool. It is a database of your clients and data concerning their company, and not really set up to track the DSO of receivables.
You would do better buying a simple version of QUICKBOOKS, which has a very simple AR module, and will give you all kinds of neat reports like DSO and other stuff. QB is really not that expensive, and you can always buy a used or earlier version from eBay, or Craigslist, etc.
I think you need to be more specific on what type of company you have. It is always how you utitlize the software to make things work. Establish a working flow, then you can decide if the software will fit. Some ppl use Excel to do such job
