How do i start off? i want to be a therapist.?
Question:
Answer:
You may be able to find an online undergraduate psychology program. However, to become a therapist, you need minimally 4 years of undergraduate education and then at least 2 years of graduate school to get your Master's degree. Unfortunately, you will most likely not find a Counseling, Social Work, or Clinical Psychology Master's program online. The academic courses may be feasible online, but psychology Master's programs require externships or practicums (like part-time internship) and are very involved. When you finish your education and training, some schools have career services and will help place you in a job, but most leave it up to you and you have to find your own work, either in a hospital, community mental health center, private practice, non-profit, etc.
You have to start at a qualified college. If you had the grades in H.S. you can apply for scholarships that are quirky and often available for obscure reasons. Try to get one. The textbooks alone will drain your college fund! Be prepared to do at least 6 years of solid college courses. It's harder than you think. All so you can ask people what THEY think! Good Luck and believe in your dreams. You have to be ready for hard work and tremendous competition too to be a therapist. Hope that Helps!! (The job looks easier than it is) @8=)
You don't want to be a therapist. You want to be a analrapist. The world's second combination analyst and therapist.
