Is Getting a Master's Degree Online worth my time??

Question:
I really want to get my PhD so I can teach at college level, but first I must get my MFA or MA. I work during the day and cannot afford to stop working, is getting an MFA or MA online worth it, or is it not worth my time and money?

Answer:
Why must you get your MA or MFA before applying to PhD programs?

Most PhD programs admit students with bachelors degrees, and the Masters degree is earned along the way. (Sometimes it is just an M.Phil. awarded prior to writing the dissertation.)

To answer your question, stay away from online Masters programs. They are not taken seriously within academia.
You must first diligently check to see if the group is genuinely accredited by a legitimate national organization. You must thoroughly research this and get consultation from local universities. There are a lot of less than ethical groups offering advanced degrees and you can pay your money, but the degree will not be seen as valid by those with whom you seek employment etc.
