I am currently taking classes with Franklin University. I've had some of their online classes. Online classes aren't for me, but I have a lot of friends and co-workers who take online classes from Franklin and the love it. There are no test either, just mostly writing papers, and group involved work. Franklin is mostly a busienss orientated school. The offered degrees are around Business, Marketing, Digital Communication, and some others. Go to www.franklin.edu and check it out (I also work there)
I r'cd my masters from University of Phoenix. I'm sure online schools vary greatly but UoP involved A LOT of writing but no tests... so if you are a poor t.est taker but good at writing papers it may be the way to go. But don't think it's easy... I spent about 2 hours a day on each class during the week and typically 4 to 6 hours on Saturday and Sunday. Also, make certain it is an accredited school or else you are really paying for nothing.
The key to being successful through an online program is self-determination and being an independent worker. You will have work to do and it's sometimes easy to put it off because you don't have a "certain time" where you HAVE to be in class. You really have to monitor yourself and learn how to manage your time because you do have so much freedom with an online degree program.
I checked into doing AIU (part of university of Phoenix) on line. The cost was $20,000 for an associates degree. It was $30,000 for a bachelors degree. When I explained I already had an associates degree the cost was still $30,000 to complete to a bachelors program. This seemed a little off to me. Unless you are seriously considering this DO NOT ask for info from anyone. They will hit you WIth e-mail and phone calls that never go away. I've been getting it since Aug. and it just won't stop even though I have told them I am not interested. They try and play up "scholarship and grant" money. I make $75,000 year and they try to tell me I am eligible for this type of money.. The fine print says "loans" Be careful.
