Is a online university degree really hard, i am thinking of getting a degree, No prior college. Any Advice?
Question:
Answer:
It is definitely manageable, but you may want to be careful too. It is certainly convenient, but it also requires quite a bit of self-discipline. If it is a reputable online course - through an accredited college or university - then the coursework is not likely to be easy. You might want to start out with one class at first, especially since you say you haven't had any prior college experience. It might also be good for you to take an in-person class now and again so that you can get the overall college experience through class discussions, etc. that are difficult to convey through an online environment. Hope that helps!
Many are scams. Be careful.
Hi there.
I am an online instructor and have been an online student for two years. I love it! You manage your own time. Just submit assignments when they're due, but you can log on at 2am or 6pm, etc.

Apparently University of Pheonix is real. Make sure the school's website has .edu at the end of it. Otherwise it's almost 100% guaranteed to be a scam.
The other problem is Online Universities aren't as well respected as Universities that you go to are. So you have to keep that in mind.
On the brightside, more and more companies are taking online universities seriously.
There's no easy way to get a degree. You're going to have to study and do work no matter what.
I have found independent study to be very hard. The courses (well at least here in Australia) are the same ones offered to the internal students, but it is the fact that you have noone there to motivate you, you have to set your own timetable, and if you don't understand the way something is written it is harder to get your head around it.
Try find a course where the instructor is available to answer questions (over the phone would be best, email if not) or where there is the provision to get in touch with other students in your area so you can help each other out.
A lot of community colleges offer online programs that can get you your Associate's Degree within 1 to 2 years. From there, you can transfer to a regular university or try to get a job. Online BA/BS degrees are usually relatively easy to get, but are a bit expensive. You should keep in mind that most employers look down upon online degrees as they feel people need to interact with others on a physical level and also because most online colleges don't cover as much material as regular colleges. But having a degree is definitely better than not having one.
I wouldn't recommend this option and would instead advise you to go to community college instead.
I think the hard part about attending school online is the motivation, especially if you take clases that you can log into at any time. It's so easy to find a reason you can't participate today, or this week. You need to build structure into your life and force your regular participation. I can remember one online class that I completed in a week because I kept putting off logging in and doing the assignments. I definately didn't learn as much from that class because I didn't participate like I should.
You also miss the interaction with other students. When you are at a physical university, other students ask some of the same questions you have and as they struggle to get the answers, they say things that make the concept click for you.
On the other hand, the flexibility of online classes is a major selling point. If you've got a busy and irregular schedule, they can be one of the best ways to attain your degreee.
It depends on the subject.
The best on line degrees I know of are in the are of business admin
You have to be disciplined and self-motivated. There will be assignments due on certain dates and no teacher there to remind you...
good luck
