Why are online courses/classes becoming the rage?

Question:
My own opinion is that they are geared to get money out of people and nothing in return, teachers are not required as well as other related issues making it a tremendous profit maker for orgnizations to include community colleges/universities, etc. It used to take four years to get a B.S. degree but with online classes, some schools advertise that a B.S. can be obtained now in one year?

Answer:
I took some online courses from an accredited university and they made it a lot easier to work full time while attending school. The exams and papers required were just as tough as other courses. I highly recommend it if the university is accredited.
I have a friend who got her masters degree online while taking care of her sick and dying father.
I am taking online courses through an accredited university (established in the late 1800s/early 1900s) they have hybrid courses (part online/part on campus) and on campus courses.
in one year for a B.S. is B.S. okay!
Some schools are diploma mills just interested in getting your money. For me I work full time so I like the flexibility of an online course.
