Graph by first solving for y. what are the steps?

Question:
online college doesnt teach very good.

Graph by first solving for y.

4x – 3y = 6

Answer:
4x – 3y = 6

subtract 4x for both sides
-3y = -4x +6

divided by -3 for both sides
y = 4/3x -2
You should be able to do this before entering college, but anyway. subract the (4x) from both sides to get: -3y=-4x+6. then divide by -3 to get y alone. you'll get y=4/3x-3. Then plug in values for x such as -3,-2,-1,0,1,2,3 and plot accordingly.
subtract 4x from each side:

-3y= -4x+6

divide by -3:

y= 4x/3 -2

4/3 is the slope, -2 is the y-intercept
this is not college level math, i can do this in grade 10 math. 4x - 3y = 6 first get rid of the 4 x y subtracting it from both sides, your equation now looks like this: --3y = -4x + 6 (assume positive for six because there is no indication of a negative.) now to get rid of the -3 attatched to the y, divide -3 throughout the whole equation: -3y/-3 = -4x/-3 + 6/-3 because dividing a negative by a negative always equals a positive, and a positive divided by a negative equals a negative your FINAL equation should look like this: y = 4/3x - 2. this is also known as a y=mx + b formula in which case m is slope and b is the y-intercept (the point at which the line crosses the y axis) to graph it, start on the -2 point and go four points up and three points across to the right because they are both positive numbers repeat this process using 4 down and three to the left until you run out of graph room.

hope this helps
