Would it be best to get your LPN then get your RN, even if you go to a 2 yr college that offers RN degree?
Question:
Answer:
If you know that you want to be an RN, I would suggest you go ahead and enroll in an RN program. LPN's are being phased out in many states and the RN is a preferable degree. Your income level drastically increases with the RN degree.
The LPN does not directly roll into RN coursework, so I strongly recommend you look into the RN program. Talk with the faculty, admission reps, etc... and present yourself well. If you can find out who the decision makers are and get your name in front of them, you will have a better chance of being accepted into the program.
Good luck to you - I have friends who are nurses and have so much respect for folks like you. I have worked for colleges with nursing programs and know that they are a lot of work, but RN grads really do well and have great opportunities ahead of them.
I don't think so.
I'm in a nursing program right now and as far as I'm concerned, they're all very competitve.
And the LPN to RN programs only eliminate two classes. So it's just better to go straight to the RN.
Get your pre-reqs finished and out of the way so when you do get in, you can focus only on nursing.
And just a tip, people drop out or change their minds all the time when it comes to getting into nursing school. My boyfriend and I got a rejection letter initially but then two months later, they called me and offered me a seat and then two weeks after that they called him and gave him a seat. So just because you're on a waiting list, it doesn't mean it won't happen.
