Can any one give an idea of the best online college and university with low tution?

Question:

Answer:
There are no good on-line universities.

They are For Profit corporations that accept nearly all applicants. While some have regional accredation, they are not accredited by the more prestigious accreditation boards.

The following article outlines their problems. Companies like Intel ar erefusing to pay for their students to attend on-line colleges & many companies will not hire their graduates.

In addition, schools like the University of Phoenix have been fined for sleazy recruiting practices and are currently under investigation for padding their placement numbers.

Go to a real college.
Online programs are considered moneymakers by most schools. You won't find any cheap, reputable online programs.

Most "online" schools don't have good reps with employers. If your only option for schooling it to attend online, then please consider your options carefully.

There are reputable, "brick and mortar" schools that offer degrees online. Their good reputation for their on-campus programs will flow over into their online program.

Some great universities that offer online degrees include:

University of Massachusetts at Amherst
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
University of Denver
University of Maryland
Duke University
Drexel
Carnegie Mellon
Penn State
Ball State
U Nebraska - Lincoln
Babson
Worcester Polytechnic Institute
University of Illinois

And there are others. But in general, when you're looking for a distance learning degree, try to find a program at a school that has a good reputation for their "brick and mortar" campus.

I'd avoid U Phoenix, Devry, ITT, Strayer, Kaplan and the like. Go with a "real" university instead, even if you're looking at online programs, and its more likely that employers won't discount your education when they see it on your resume.

ETA: Taranto, thanks for that link. Brilliant article, summarizes exactly why my company refuses to hire students who've attended U Phoenix.
