Junior in highschool interested in college (important!)?
Question:
Answer:
Well, if they do not send any information, call them. Check out their website. Be persistent, even if you need to call 12 times a day. Colleges want students, they will do a lot for you, especially if you are interested. After they send you information, you'll most likely receive an application, or you can do it online, in which some of the fees are waived.
As for you boyfriend, he could have signed up for mailing list after mailing list. I did that and received letter after letter after letter, even after I was a college student. Does your school have a college fair? This is where you can sign up for mailing lists.
Good luck! Don't give up! If you have to, there are always community college. I did that for 2 years, saved a lot of money, and got into my top choice and my safety when I applied for colleges to transfer to.(A lot of people do this!)
P.S. When calling, never choose a number on the answering service, press 0 or wait for the operator to direct your call, otherwise you'll most likely reach a voice mail every time. (Which will still be effective, and you will have to leave voice mails, just try to talk to a person as much as possible.)
Go on a college visit. That will tell you everything including the college's personality, and they can answer every question in the book at your visit. Just arrange it with the colleges you're considering applying to.
People who receive lots of college letters are usually either good athletes or those who have scored very high on PSAT tests. Colleges usually are not interested in seeing your information without an application. Usually if you send a message to the admissions office through the college web site they will be more than glad to send you information.
I suggest you seek out college fairs in your community. Also college visits are great - you need to request a formal appointment.
