Online coarses?

Question:
has anyone taken online college coarses are they just a good as a real college any info will help please

Answer:
As a professor who teaches both on-campus and online, let me say that you can benefit from both learning methods. But let me pass along this piece of advice for online students: Be prepared to do more reading!

The KEY difference between classroom and online classes are the way in which we teach them. In an actual classroom, I can walk students through things, see them doing it, field questions right then and there, point to certain sections of a handout and/or the book.

But with online classes, I would need to write things out, post handouts, correspond using something like email, IM, etc. In other words, it's not nearly as interactive as a classroom environment.

Now this doesn't mean that you cannot effectively learn through online, but it's a different way of learning. If you don't need a professor right there all the time to guide you along, and can work more independently, then online can work out pretty well.

But if you need or would like that face-to-face instruction and hand-holding, then online probably isn't for you.

And let me end by saying there's a HUGE difference between taking online classes and pursuing a degree online. A 100% online degree doesn't carry nearly as much clout as one done with some classroom instruction. Why? Because there's no way to say that YOU actually know your stuff and can do it. With online instruction, I just see the results, and for all I know, you could simply have somebody there feeding you answers. But in a classroom, that's not the case!
I go to an online school right now, and the course work is more difficult. I say that because you have to be dedicated to what you are doing, wait for the instructor to come online, and you do not have the classmates with you to help with any problems. That said, I have learned much more than I ever learned in a face-to-face classroom, as there was not ever a chance to "goof-off".
I'm tkaing a online graphic design asso. degree and I think its
great no school to go to and you don't have to worry about
parking or all the big classes.
