Should I go to college?
Question:
Right now, I'm in a pretty good job ($30k) but after putting my 40 hours in, I'm often bored and depressed with my sad life of no friends/relationships, etc.
If I did go to college, however, it would have to be all online, as I don't drive. My 'rents drop me off at my job (a library) early in the morning. I'd be able to do my studying before work.
But.. I think to myself -- will I just revert back to my old ways and slack off from here to kingdom come?
Help? Thanks...
Answer:
College is a means to an end. You need to decide what you want to do with your life first, then you will know whether or not you have to attend college to receive training for that endeavor. If you decide to be a plumber, then you shouldn't go to college but should join the local plumber's union and get into an apprenticeship program for plumbers. If you decide to be a teacher, then you will need a degree.
It all depends on what you want to do, my friend. Make that search a valuable one and spend some time really asking yourself what your strengths are, what your weaknesses are, and how you can exploit your strngths and overcome your weaknesses. Life is too short to be working at something that bores you and makes you unhappy. You probably have much to contribute to mankind and to society by becoming trained as something worthwhile. That may or may not include a college education. Just try to pick a career or profession that you believe you will be able to do for the next 30 years, make a difference, and look back then to say that you have no regrets.
Good luck, my friend.
First, you need to decide what you like, that way you can do something that does not bore you and you will be mortivated to do well in it
If you are determined to do it you will do it. Don't set yourself up for failure just look at what you will get in the longrun if you do finish school. I know its overwhelming but its better than having a bad job.
what do u do with your money? maybe saving? how about save for a car of ur own? and then u will have ur own transportation to go explore what else is out there in ur city.
There is more to going to college than just to make more money altho that is a factor. It expands & broadens your horizons, piques you interests, expands your self-esteem & helps you know & see how the rest of the world lives & thinks.
well generally college is always a decent choice, but remember it is not for everyone. Ask yourself whether or not a college degree is necesary for the field you are in now. Will you be able to advance without one? 30k is a nice amount of money for a 21 year old, but would you want to try and support a family on a similar type of salary. College is often seen as an investment and its rightly so. If college will put you in a better position to provide for your future you may want to consider it. If the reward doesnt seem to merit the risk (costs) then you may not choose to go forward with college. Remember, college does not guarantee a different lifestyle when you are working as much of your free time is going to be spoken for.
No... don't go to college. Leave those mass money making opportunities to my friends, family, and I.
More options for me, less money for you. Can't wait to be your boss!
I really hope I convinced you.
As for myself I am a skilled tradesman machine repair I served a 5 year apprentice-ship that might not be your cup of tea but there are Fields like electrical carpentry and a few other skilled trades that entail only minimal classes at a community collage or none at all that encompasses only on the job training that can be very personally rewarding and earn you a good middle class living, Hang in there pal work hard be diligent and you will make it.
See, first let us chalk out one thing that why do u want to go to college? Just to have a friend or two? Or do u wanna cpmplete ur studies etc. Well i think going to college just for the sake of making friends would be a bit childish bcoz colleges do not gurantee frnds and who knows that u may fall in some other problem!
But i think going to college would be a better idea as then ur life may get a new direction. May be u would earn nice frns and side by side u will enhance ur knowledge also.
But my dear frn it is very easy to leave a job but veriiiiiiiii difficult to get it back! well instead of college go for some hobby tutions, there ull find ppl of the interest same as urs and may be u can get bew fns.
okay! bbye ca
First off, you need to have a more positive outlook about your personal life. With a negative attitude, you can't go forward in any endeavor, be it personal or academic.
Second, what is it you are interested in as far as studying? Are you going to major in Library Sciences? Literature? Choosing the right major is very important if you want to be happy in college.
Third, why was it that you failed miserably in college the first time around? Were you focused in your studies? Were you trying too hard to balance school, work, and social life?
Fourth, I think you should you go to college, true, but only if you really WANT to and not because it's expected of you.
