Witch School online, SacredMists or Witchschool.com ?, Pagans & personal exper, only please !?
Question:
Witchschool.com.
Both are very reasonable in their pricing and very in depth in their teaching and curriculum.
I am a solitary practicing witch and have been for 6 years, but I live in a very rural area, where there are NO covens, elders, etc, that I can speak with, learn from, etc...
I have well over 200 books in my library on everything from Wicca, Voodoo, Hoodoo, Buddhism, Spellcraft, Aromatherapy, but feel as if a structured curriculum with things in order might help me in certain ways.
HAS ANYONE HAD ANY EXPERIENCE WITH EITHER OF THESE ONLINE SCHOOLS?
I do know that Sacred Mists leans more towards Celtic and WitchSchool is Corellian (not absolutely sure where the Corellian tradition follows??)
Any Help and Suggestions regarding these schools would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:
I don't have any experience with any on-line schools or any groups at all for that matter. I too am a solitary. Are you unsure of your practicing? I have no "formal" schooling, I am completely self taught. I don't think you can go wrong by actually developing your own path rather than depend on what others may say you should learn. I have been practicing for over 40 years and am quite comfortable with where I am in this life. But I believe much of my knowledge has been carried over from a previous life and from what I learned from my mother. I am a disorganized witch and probably always will be. And I am continually learning. My book of shadows is getting quite thick. Perhaps if you are adept at divination (Tarot or Runes) you might ask them for advice. That is what I do when trying to make decisions that I am pretty sure no one around me could help with.

today was a slow day for comedy until you showed up.
thanks for the laugh.
I suggest you not do it.
The problem with those schools is that they teach things ONLY the way the teachers feel they should be. The beauty of Paganism is that it ISN'T taught in any school and is open to your own interpretation.
Its like going to school to learn Christianity. Indoctrination rather than actual learning.
By reading books, you learn and use what you want to learn instead of what your teachers think you should know.
Edit: Ignore jan. She's just preaching and showing us all why Christianity is so annoying.
Honestly I would recommend, not enrolling in any online wicca *school*. If you are serious about it look up in the yahoo groups and see if there is a group in your area, or witchvox. Deal with people in person versus online. There has to be a new age bookstore in a nearby city that would have info on classes or gatherings.
Good luck
Namaste,
Can you form an online network with people as opposed to enrolling? Since you say you are a solitary then I would think you wouldn't necessarily be comfortable with a coven (I wasn't when I was a Pagan). There are several newsgroups out there that share information and can help you. Good luck with your quest.

Please don't do this; If you want power, if you want to be the instrument of change,
if you want to teach, or if you want to learn, you can do all of those things, and you don't have to damn yourself in the process.
I normally DO NOT try to change someones mind about their personal choices, as I feel that everyone has to sail their own ship, but I just felt so strongly that I had to write this - don't sail your ship somewhere that will destroy you. I know
that the organized religions are chock-full of bullshit, really I do, and I'm a student of the manuscripts (35 yrs now or so) and I don't go to any of those churches; if I wanted to learn bullshit I'd go sit in the bar.
Anyway, the thing is that these churches do not teach what is in the Bible, and I mean some real important stuff that you just may be interested in knowing. For example,
all of these people saying that the Bible says the earth is 6000 yrs old? It doesn't.
It even says there was an entire earth age before this one, and you were there (here)?
Don't discount the truth and power of the Living God because some religions make it look like nonsense. Its not. Its pure power,
you just need to skip the religious organizations and read the truth of it for yourself. You seem like a person who is into study - so study this truth, and see if
thats where you find your place in this life.
If not, you've lost nothing. But if so, then
your entire life will have a new purpose and a new meaning. You will find out who you really are, and why you are here in the first place. Just don't skip it when you list those things you study and then keep in your library. If you do, you do yourself a terrible disservice.
Witch School is a good one and many of their courses are free. You even get grades and diplomas that you can print out and frame. They have online testing too. You can also ask for a mentor around your area to help you through the courses and ask them questions. Correllian Tradition is their own Tradition and is a mixture of things including Native American. Sacred Mists seems expensive to me and more bland on what they teach.
I belong to witchschool.com- I like it--I bought a lifetime membership, when it was under a hundred dollars- and belong to their Tarot card "school" also. They both have alot of nice information- you enroll in a class- you can print out the lessons- or read them online- and then in 2 weeks, you are given a test to "pass" the course. You have longer than 2 weeks to complete the classes- I find it a little frustrating that I can't do any of the tests before the 2 weeks are up, and I believe you can only be enrolled in 5 classes at once.
I haven't noticed alot of message board actitivy- but, I haven't really looked for them... you are able to e-mail professors to ask questions, get info , etc...which is nice :-), and the staff when I have had to talk with them over any issue- seem nice.
