How well respected is a degree from Ellis College (online)?
Question:
I noticed they had a hospitality management program (my intended field), and it's cheaper/more convienent than paying out of state tuition for a year elsewhere...not to mention I work overnights right now, kind of nixing anything but internet classes.
Basically, is this just a crank-out degree like University of Phoenix, or a legit degree that will help me advance my career (like one from a land-based campus)?
Big thanks,
Joe C.
Answer:
Ellis College of NYIT is regionally accredited, which is acceptable, it is really expensive.
You could get a Bachelors degree in Management at several other colleges and universities for about one-third or one-fourth the cost that you would pay Ellis.
Fort Hays State University - http://www.fhsu.edu/virtualcollege/...
University of Wyoming - http://outreach.uwyo.edu/ocp/degrees&pro...
Peru State University - http://www.peru.edu/offuttafb/degreeprog...
For example, the University of Wyoming online programs are only $134 per credit hour. They charge the same no matter where in the U.S. you are located. That's a lot less than the $425 per credit Ellis is going to charge.
Good luck,
