I have set up 529 funds for my kids. I started by using upromise.com. This site lists several different 529 plans available. You can pick from there. Both of mine allow for electronic deposits and can be handled over line. I have one with American Funds and one with Scholar's Choice.
Upromise is great b/c you can also get cash back for purchasing certain products or using your credit cards. That cash back can go directly into the 529 as well. Its free money. Not fast money, but every little bit helps.

Check any of the major mutual fund companies. I currently use American Funds.
