I teach freshman composition so here's my suggestion if you were my student:
You ought to look in the databases in your university library. Start with Academic Search Premier and JSTOR. Look in journals like the Chronicle of Higher Education, College English, and such. You *might* find some information on the internet (i.e., google) but probably nothing substantial. Go to the databases. These resources might not be completely specific to A&M at Commerce, but they can give you some general information that you can apply (as it relates) to your university.
Also, what are your search terms? Freshman are notorious about using complete sentences in their searches. Try "freshman" and "success" and "college." Or, "academic" and "freshman" and "success." Or, "first year" and "success" and "college." Or, "first year" and "success" and "higher education."
I hope this gives you a good place to start. Good luck--I love A&M at Commerce. I was just there in February.
It's funny that you say that becuase I have the same project to do for my english class, and I hve to look up the same thing, we probablly go to the same school. Anyways, I found some things on the internet here they are...
