Teaching online college courses as an adjunct. What do I need to start and what are some good resources?

Question:

Answer:
Like the poster above mentions, you'll need a minimum of a Master's degree with 18 graduate credits in the area you want to teach. If the college does not have specialty accreditation (like AACSB) on top of it's regional accreditation, they seem fairly flexible with the 18 credit rule as long as you have a master's and relevant experience.

Doctorates are preferred.

Expect to apply to many schools before breaking in.

Good luck!
Depends on what you are teaching. I have taken a couple of online courses from my college, because they were not offered on campus. The things I appreciate are organization, structure and a professor/adjunct who is readily available for questions. I am certain your campus has software to set up discussion boards, areas to view grades etc...

http://www.course.com// would probably have some good info for you to peruse.

Good Luck with your class!
When you applied for the position, they should give you specifics on how they'd like you to teach the course, right?

this is a tough question to answer because you aren't really asking anything specific, so i'm not sure what to say...
It's a fairly competitive field to break into without any prior experience, but definitely attainable. Online universities obviously aren't constrained by location and can get alot of applicants.
