What do you think about living at home at 24?

Question:
I'm a 24 year old male, lives at home, working like hell some weeks and doing online college as well.
I could move out on my own but I would likely have to stop college for a year or two. Because I would probably have to work 70 hours a week to afford my expenses. Even though I work about 40 a week now.
I live in a house that has a large basement. I take care of my own things and needs. I can smoke my ciggs here too INSIDE. The apartment my friend had didn't even allow smoking! (not to get into this please. even though most of the yahoo people are anti-smoking) well' keep this

Some of my friends think it's weird.

I think I'll save money because when I get my full time job, I won't be paying the rent.

Even though I think it's great for people that our out on their own.

I think it's wrong to bash people about living the way they want to. As long as it's morally correct.

Some of my friends think it's weird, but I don't give a &&&.

Answer:
Hey, I'm doing the same thing. Well almost. It's really smart these days it seems. College is so expensive and what is the point in moving out just to have tons of debt. My friends think it makes sense, but sometimes I really want my own place, I just keep think in time, in time.
If you had asked that question 30 years ago I would think you were a bit weird. However, today it is a really smart move. You are saving money,a nd if it's okay with your parents, why not stay. Take advantage of all the free stuff you can, because once you are out on your own, it is really expensive. Wait a few years, then see if your friends are still laughing when you are debt free, and they are drowning in it.
Don't pay rent, live at home, get a good job save for a couple of years then move out.. 24 isnt that old..when you save a lot of money and buy a phat house you can have your friends live in your basement.
My cousin is 25 and lives with his parents, it's a huge house and he has one side all to himself, total freedom to do whatever, he works and contributes to the house quite alot. It seems to be working out, so why move? America is about the only country where people think there's something wrong with you for not moving out at 18. In other countries it's perfectly acceptable for families to live together their entire lives. Don't listen to other people's criticism regarding this issue, do whatever makes you and your family happy. I'm actually jealous, I wish I got along with my family enough to live with them.
your very smart ,i know loads who still live at home,i think your mates are a litle jealous,
I don't see anything wrong with it. As long as your parents think it's okay, but more importantly, as long as you respect their wishes and their rules in their home.

Your parents (especially Mom) probably WANT you home anyway. Feel very lucky and try not to take advantage of a good situation.

You say you take care of your own needs. Does that include cooking your own meals, buying the food, washing your own clothes and watching your own tv?

Just remember, when you smoke, down in that large basement, that it's NOT your house when you accidentally fall asleep and burn it down.

They're saving you a lot of money in hopes of you making yourself a great life after college. Respect is the word for the day.
If you didn't care you wouldn't be writing this question.

But the truth is...I live in a major metropolitan area and people in their mid-20's still live at home with their parents while they work and go to school...but I mean if you're 30 and still living at home...maybe it's time to move out and get a girlfriend or something...
At least you got money.

Your friends suck.

Find some new friends that will treat you like a real friend. They're probably jealous because their parents kicked them out.

Get a college degree and get a real job. Then you move out when you can afford it.
