Hi can anyone help me with the quality of online training in the uk. Is it worth it to do a course online?
Question:
Answer:
Hello,
(ANS) Be careful here, be VERY careful, why?
No.1 website design consists of two major elements or aspects, these are firstly the technical understanding of the technologies involved in site creation & site managment. Secondly, the graphic design & artistic creative side of site design.
No.2 An online course cannot teach you the artistic creative aspects of website design, such as look & feel, colour, shape, line, page balance, page formatting, etc.
**I've met several people who were very skilled & knowledgable about many aspects of website creation on the technical side. Could write code & program java script etc but they made dreadfully aweful sites because they had no feel for the design or look of the site.
**NOTE: the opposite can also exsist, a person who is brilliant with images, design can work with photoshop, etc but hasnt got any idea how to make the site work from a technical or programing point of view.
**Website design involves a great deal of understanding of both of these aspects. Plus website design is a fiercely competitive part of the IT industry.
**Forget formal pieces of paper or qualifications in website design, focus on hands on experience from a skilled designer. Get some time working with & learning from an exsisting & successful commercial website designer. Get yourself an old fashioned type of work based apprenticeship.
**If your strength is in the artistic design side then you can learn up on the more technical stuff. But if your strength is purely technical its MUCH harder to learn the artistic creative stuff generally speaking.
Hope that helps?

As long as you get something that is accredited eg. a recognised supplier approves the course, you should be fine. But research it carefully.
Having said that, as an HR person, we don't regularly check on where a qualification came from, as long as you can prove you have it.
my daughter did one and she thought it was ok
* it can be very worthwhile doing any course.check with the company before you sign up and part with any money if they will help you get a job after wards.you could also ask what sort of degree you will get and contact the job center to see if this sort of qualifiction will be valid in your search fr a job. i have heard people complain that the certificate they recieve is not reconised.good luck.
Technicalities can be learned through Training. Media can be any, as long as you are able to pick (LEARN) and perform. However, creative part will get groomed with practice.
Thus, creativity has nothing to do with Media or Mode of Training you choose. Moreover, you shall choose on line training carefully to avoid small scale scams.
Good luck !!
try penn foster.com or pcdi.com they have very affoardable classes on line. an affoardable price that you can pay by the month.
