What is it like taking online classes?
Question:
Answer:
Online classes make it possible for you to study on your own schedule (within the context of finishing within a semester). This makes them convenient if you have a busy work or travel schedule.
But that also means you have to be very self-disciplined. There is no pressure to go to lecture Mondays and Wednesdays, but if you do not figure out your own time to watch them, work will pile up on you fast.
Also, you have to be very self-motivated, because help is generally limited. Sure, you can e-mail the professor or other classmates, but that is not as good as being there, going to office hours, etc.
If you go on vacation that is fine, but you still have to figure out a time to get your work done. You might be able to access lectures from where you go. The nice thing is that with online study, class attendance will not prevent you from going on vacation.
Online classes tend to be relatively expensive. Part of this reflects the cost of recording the lectures and making them available on streaming video. That requires extra infrastructure that is not needed in regular on campus classes.
The one thing you should know is that the online only univerisites and colleges generally do not have good academic reputations (even though they may be accredited in some formor another). For that reason, it is better to take your online courses at respected campus based universities with online programs (there are many of them).
The other difficulty you may run into is that not everything out there is offered online. I looked around but did not see a good undergraduate interior design program for you. There is one at the master's level, though (in architecture with a specialization in interior design):

Do have the time to sit for hours on end at a computer?.. On line classes are convenient because you work when you want to..but you have deadlines to meet and alot of researching in between. Hope this helps.
