I am planning to take courses for an accounting degree online through University of Phoenix. Is this a good?

idea? Is the school reputable? Can a get a good job by going to school online or is it better to go to an accredited college?(The University of Phoenix credit is just as good as the state university or colleges, so I was told by the career counselor from UofPhoenix.)

My husband and I both went through AIU, which is similar. It was a great program!

Do you have relevant work experience in accounting? If the answer is no, then stay away from U of P or any other for-profit school. The business programs at these schools are not accredited. The school is accredited but the programs are not. The job market is very competitive which means where you went to school does matter. Save your money. UofP is overpriced and the quality of education is poor. I am an accountant and we do not hire UofP grads. It may not be fair but it is the way it is. If you want more info on UofP check out uofpsucks.com.

Not so much. There are much cheaper options, with MUCH better sucess rates! I am currently attending Strayer University. I am in their online MBA program, and they have been completely accomadating to my busy life. I work full time, have 2 kids, and stay tied up in something! Also, they have 50 campuses, so there is one close to probably! They let you choose each quarter to take classes online, or on campus, or BOTH! they are really great!
