Online colleges for criminal justice?

Question:
Any ideas of any online colleges that have good criminal justice programs?

Thank's.

I want to become a Chicago Police Officer, and I need 60 credit hours to do so.

How long would 60 credit hours take with an online course?

Answer:
I am currently enrolled in a criminal justice degree program in Kentucky. The way it works here, is that I have taken 5 classes (at the local community college) each semester for four semesters or two years. Each class is three credit hours. So 3 x 5 = 15 credit hours per semesterr. There are two semesters in a year. So 15 x 2 = 30. So it would take you exactly two years to earn 60 credits. Of course, all these credits are not going to be related to criminal justice. I have had to take English 101 , English 102, American history, a humanities class (like art history), an into to computer class, and so on. You are only required to take about eight criminal justice classes, or 24 credit hours.the rest are general requirements and electives. When I graduate, I will have an associate of science in criminal justice, which can then be turned into a bachelor in criminal justice. There are ,MANY schools that are accredited for criminal justice. You should try at a community college first. In the state of Kentucky, they offer 100% online classes in criminal justice, psychology, and some other demanding majors through Schools like the University of Louisville, and the University of Kentucky. You can enroll in a local community college, and elect to take the classes online (which is what I am doing). Although, I like to take one class a semester on campus in the evening. It just keeps the experience real. Online classes are easy, but I found that it depends a lot on your work ethic and dedication. You must be self motivated to stay ontop of work in online coursework. I would not suggest enrolling in schools that are "online schools," you know, the one's you always see advertised. Most colleges now offer most of your classes online, they just don't advertise. It is possible to do almost anytype of degree online, but again, it is just not advertised. Get a list of online classes at your local college. If my college doesn't offer the class online, chances are, there is another community college in the state that is offering the class. I am taking five classes this semester, all are online, but only one is through my home college, the rest are other community colleges around the state. Good luck on your endeavors! You can never go wrong with an education, no matter what you will be doing
