Online colleges?

Question:

i need help finding one that suit my needs. i'm currently attending a community college, but things aren't working out. i've found that i have a better success rate when i take online courses and was wondering if anyone could help me find online schools that would allow me to transfer to other college and obtain an AA degree. i'd like to transfer to CSU Stanislaus (it's in near my hometown). if anyone could give me direct links to online schools i'd greatly appreciate it.

Does your community college have online programs? If not, then there are plenty of options available. However, I recommend that you AVOID the for-profit schools like University of Phoenix, Strayer, Kaplan, etc. Most for-profit schools overcharge by a large margin. For example, UoP charges $494 per semester credit hour, Fort Hays State University charges $137 per semester credit hour. Which would you rather pay? Here are a few schools for you to consider.

If a school is regionally accredited, you will have few problems transferring credits. You will have problems if you attend a nationally accredited school. ITT TECH and Penn Foster are examples of nationally accredited schools. Always check accreditation of a school before enrolling. I am usually weary of online colleges because of my concerns pertaining to credibility. That's why I find it would probably be better to search for universities that have distance learning programs (such as my university- University of South Alabama or U Mass).

If you truely do better on-line check out the colleges of the University of Phoenix, Capella University, or DeVry. These colleges all have extensive online courses, and are actually geared to online students. You can find their website by just looking them up in either Yahoo of Google.

My only advice (outside of making sure you are really ready to do the work) is to make sure whatever school you apply to, that it is regionally accredited by one of the recognized regional accrediting bodies - NOT the State Department of Education. If it is not regionally accredited, most employers will NOT recognize it and most universities will NOT accept tranfer credits.
