Am I taking too many courses in community college during the Summer?

Question:
I currently work 40 hours and decided to go back to school. I registered for 3 courses (10 units) in a community college and I hope to transfer to UCLA, if possible. This will be my first semester back at school since 6 years ago. I still have a 3.6 GPA and for the Summer, I'm taking English 201 Honors, Economics, and Accounting online. Accounting is for both first and second session, while English and Economics are both on the second session. Is this too many courses for the Summer? I hope to take all 6 Honor courses in 1 year and become certified which will improve my chances of being accepted into UCLA. Can anybody give me any advice and do you think it will hurt my grade or if it will still be too difficult to get accepted into UCLA? Thanks.

Answer:
thats a lot of hours for the summer. I dont even have a full time job and that would kill me. Think of it like this, for every credit hour you take in the summer, multiply it by 2 and thats what its like in a normal semester. If you are taking 6 hours in the summer, it is like taking 12 in the fall or spring. Some people can do it, just be careful, its important to have a good GPA more than rushing yourself. Good Luck
Yes it is too much, cuz u work full time. But you can try and see since all the courses are online. Just make it sure that you remember the date to drop the course (if you have to) to avoid the W, or get your money back. That way you wont be penalizing for trying.
Take in consideration that last time you were in school was 6 yrs ago, did you work full time than too? Also, your GPA is great and you want to keep it that way, or make it even better; competition for UCLA is fierce. If you only need 6 classes to transfer don't squeeze three of them in the summer semester. You have fall semester too and it is nice and long enough to handle more studying, and get excellent grades.
Just my 2 cents.
Good luck!
If this is your first time back in 6 years I would consider taking only one class. Try accounting and see how things work out in the first session, if you feel comfortable add either the English or econ class in the second session. Summer classes in community college are insane, you have no time to think about what you are doing let alone absorb the information. I took freshman chemistry over the summer one year and almost lost my mind, and I was not working.

In the end you want to maintain your excellent GPA and finish your coursework, it's not a race to the finish line.
