Why won't my wireless card hold a connection?

Question:
I bought an Acer Aspire 5610 about two weeks ago, and ever since I had my ISP help me configure a connection it won't hold it.
I can be connected for an hour and it will disconnect but its the same way even if I am on the net for 1 to 5 minutes. It just keeps disconnecting and reconnecting. If someone can help me resolve this issue it would be greatly appreciated. I depend on this laptop for my online college courses.

Computer System Specs:
Windows Vista Home Premium
Processor - Genuine Intel (R) CPU 1.73 GHz
Memory - 1014 RAM
System type - 32 Bit
Network Adapter - Intel(R) Pro/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection

Answer:
How is the signal strength.? If it is low, it will tend to do this. Mine does it as well under low signal strength.
Bring the laptop close to the wireless hotspot antenna, and see if it still does it. If it the signal strength is high, and it still does it, something is wrong. Good luck
