Is there an online source to find out whether a college is very competetive, non competetive, etc?

Question:
My daughter scored 620 (1860 total) in each of the SAT categories and we want to find out to what type of school she should apply.

Answer:
Two great online sites for this --

www.collegeboard.com
www.princetonreview.com

They both have ways to plug in information and generate potential school lists, and both have college profiles that show the SAT ranges of the middle 50% of the freshman class. The latter helps you to gauge whether a school will likely be a safety ... or a reach school.
Asking former students on here is a very good idea. The spin doctors of the universities in this country make sure that the colleges and universities with the most money get the most positive publicity. As a graduate of Northern Arizona University, I can tell you that I wish I had just saved my money and gone to a trade school or stayed at University Of Texas. I am buried under in loan debt, because NAU makes a huge profit off of student loans, and I have a degree in Criminal Justice that when up against another applicant from a more prestegious university like University of Arizona, will lose out every time. I have a good GPA, lots of experience, but I have only had one truly quality professor in my entire tenure there. I would suggest she start off at a community college to save money and then let her community college work tell you more about where she should go.
