Do online home training programs qualify you as if you had really had training in a class room?

Question:
I'm taking this online course for pharmacy tech through penn foster (formaly education direct) I was wondering that if when I'm done with my online course will I be able to get a job in this field even If I haven't done any real college attendance.?

Answer:
I guess it depends on the course you take up. For a most part, I reckon a regular course is to be preferred rather than an online one.
A regular course needs you to be present in a classroom environment surrounded by peers and learned professors. Also, it is undeniable that students and teachers learn from each other through personal interaction. A class is more than the dissemination of material followed by testing and grading. Then, there is the important element of unplanned, extracurricular interaction. How much time do we spend meeting with students in our offices, eating with them in the cafeteria, walking with them between buildings, etc.? Altogether, the human dynamic -- one of the primary attractions of a regular course - seems impossible to replicate online. Hence, as a Teacher and Trainer, I feel that a regular course is anyday to be preferred.
yes a home course is the same as if you were at collage you just get more time to do it
As an employer (in the medical profession), I am highly suspect of courses where you do not step foot into a classroom, especially for a field where hands on practicals are a must. I've met several intelligent people who can pass a written evaluation but when it comes time to put the knowledge to use in a practical application, they were unable to correctly or efficiently demonstrate proper technique.

Also keep in mind that a certification does not take the place of a degree. The medical field is inundated with these kinds of certificates and very few of these students actually find employment. I don't mean to burst your bubble in any manner but you're dealing with people's lives and we will typically choose a candidate from a more "traditional" educational facility.
