Question:
I want to find out what would be good for me, without just being thrown info and told go with this degree etc... Im not sure who would I contact, I have info on its way to me in the mail, and my previous experience is they will just agree with and offer very little info. Ive worked with computers for long time, Hardware more so, but am not very good at Math, so I think CS degree is a no go, but im not sure, another would be IT networking or Web design, point is I take choosing a degree very seriously, and whatever I end up choosing I really need to be able to take Online courses, cause I'll be moving out etc.. and with work would like to be able to work at my own pace. any and all help is appreciated.(at the colleges im looking into, whos a good person to talk to and get info and voice my concerns?)
You could take a career test or a personality test to determine what fields are you good in. I currently work in the computer field and I can tell you that employers want a variety of skills, not just a person who is specialized in one particular area. I suggest majoring in either computer science or computer information systems and then obtaining industry wide certifications, that match your skills, such as a plus, cisco, mcse.
You can talk to career counselors or academic advisors, but I suggest talking to people who actually work in the fields or going straight to the professors if you can and talking to them about the career choice.
