Looking for accredited online education in Library Sci. that allows testing out & move ahead as fast as I wish

Question:
Looking for accredited college online education in library science or communications not tied to quarter/semester system -- that will allow me to earn credit & save time by "testing out" on some required courses and to progress at my own pace

Answer:
I assume you are looking for a Masters Degree program as Library Science (the MLS) is a professional degree. It is quite a bit different from Communications.

I know that a great deal about library science Masters degree programs, as I attended one of the better programs in the country.

The American Library Association has a listing of accredited programs (if you want to be a librarian you need to go to an ALA accredited school). Some of the programs offer undergraduate degrees as well as doctoral programs.

Bear in mind there is not a great deal of money in librarianship but it can be otherwise rewarding.
