Online degrees?

Question:
has anybody gotten an online degree... im not a classroom person and thought this would be a good idea. what is the work like. was it easy to get a job. how were the classes and cost? what college did you use? thanks

Answer:
I got my Masters degree through Walden University, which is an accredited university. It is an on line program and it took 18 months to complete. They do offer bachelors programs. There was a lot of reading, the lectures were on a dvd, we had a quiz due each week over the reading and wrote 2 papers each week over various topics but they weren't long. The total for this was $13, 000 but it was worth it. I got my masters and was able to work on it at my convenience which was really important, because I teach full time, I'm a single mother, and have 3 children who are involved in everything. So juggling their schedule around classtimes was impossible. Attaining my masters also gave me a huge pay raise, keeping the same job I was already doing. It was much easier than I anticipated. I graduated with a 4.0, the professors did grade the work and were very helpful, all you had to do was email them. Hope this helps. www.waldenu.edu
I recently completed my Masters degree in an online program through UConn. For me, it was one of the best academic experiences of my life. The online format provided a great deal of flexibility in scheduling, allowing me to continue working while pursuing my degree. The instructors were wonderful about communication by email, phone, or online discussion forums, so I never felt that I was lacking support. The classes included people from all over the country and world, bring lots of fresh perspectives and experiences to the classroom. I can't say enough about how good my experiences were.

That said, I do have to acknowledge that online classes are not for everyone. To be successful in an online program, you need to be very self-driven. With no face-to-face class meetings, it can be very easy to fall behind unless you have the self-discipline to keep up. Some background knowledge and comfort with technology are key, since technology plays such a big role in your course participation. Also, your written communication skills must be very strong. In terms of the course, you should also expect that you may need to spend more time completing readings and assignment than in a traditional course.

One last piece of advise when considering an online program... be sure that the school and program are accredited and that the degrees they offer are accepted by employers. While there are many high-quality online programs out there, there are also a number of relatively well-known online programs that are actually run by for-profit organizations that often lack the accreditation needed to ensure a sound educational experience.

Ultimately, an online program can be a very positive experience for many people. Carefully consider your own learning styles, strengths, and goals to decide if an online program is right for you.
I was in doubt what online program to chose until I found this site:http://www.1stdegreeadvisor.info/degree. their consultants contacted me promptly and have answered all my questions and helped me to choose the online degree program that best fitted me.
