Online college expenses?

Question:
Are online college any cheaper/more expensive than brick and motor colleges?

Also, if I'm talking Boston University online, how much would tuition be about?

Answer:
When I was researching online vs. brick and mortar Masters in Education programs I found that the online program included all books and materials in its course costs while the b & m, of course, did not. Cost of books varied wildly by the course at the local university. On line I would not have to get a parking permit, pay for gas, take time to drive to campus, or alter my schedule in order to attend class. I found out that considering all the costs, the two programs were pretty comparable in cost.

Comparing my experience with a colleague who chose the brick and mortar over the online, I had a lot more writing assignments than she did at the b & m. I also had a lot less theory and a lot more practical work using my own classroom.

Another plus for the on line experience is that, at least in the program I enrolled in, you are put into a cadre of about 15 students from all around the country so you get to interact with students from a lot of different locales and hear about experiences from across the country instead of sitting in a class where all the students are local and may have similar experiences.

In order to be successful on line, you have to be pretty organized and be a self-starter. The program is flexible, but you still have to have your assignments turned in on time every week. Some people don't mind doing the work on the computer, other people need the comraderie of being in a regular classroom to interact with classmates. I enjoyed my experience with the on-line program.

I can't tell you about Boston University. You might want to do an on line search to find out the particulars for BU. Whichever you choose, good luck!
Actually yes or no, depending on the type of university you go through. In some cases, online courses are more expensive. This is because they have to spend more on IT to be able to offer online courses . This expenses are on top of the usual brick and mortar expenses. However, open distance learning is much cheaper. For example, Calamus International University is offering MBAs for GBP3210 only for international students. It is cheaper because there is no buildings or campus to pay for.
